Wood Flooring Styles

When it comes to hardwood, there are so many styles, colors, and species to choose from that no matter what choice you make it can easily conform to your home’s style. Not to mention, the first thing people look at when they walk into a home is a floor. So whether you have company coming over, or you are looking to sell your home, your floors must impress.

Besides hardwood being a great investment, they are also stain resistant and water resistant if sealed properly.

Whether you are looking for engineered hardwood or solid hardwood, you are increasing the value of your home. Hardwood is considered to have the highest resale value. Making an investment on your home means you want to see results and a long lasting floor.

Hardwood floors are timeless, and easy to maintain. If you are looking to make a lasting impression on your home then hardwood is your floor. With species available such as Oak, Maple, Hickory, Ash, bamboo, cork, and birch, you will be sure to find a style that fits your vision.

What is the Difference Between Solid and Engineered Hardwood?

Solid hardwood is, just as its name describes, one solid piece of wood from top to bottom. Thickness typically varies, but on average is about ¾” thick. It can even be sanded and refinished, but the amount of times depends on the bevel and where the tongue of the plank is on the edge. Engineered hardwood floors are made of multiple real wood veneers whose grains run in different directions in order to increase stability. This allows the floors to resist expanding and contracting during weather changes. Engineered hardwood planks can also be installed, but it depends on how thick the surface layer is.

Where Can Hardwood Be Installed?

Hardwood flooring is known to be durable, but it does have its limitations when it comes to where it can be installed. For the most part, solid hardwood can be installed in rooms like bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. Engineered hardwood planks are better suited for areas that see a lot of activity like hallways, entryways, and children’s playrooms. You can even install engineered hardwood in your basement.
